InDEC-ChalShiksha 2024
The India Democratic Education Conference (InDEC) aims to create a space for all stakeholders (children, educators, parents, and policy makers) to come together and interact and share ideas with respect to education in India. Chal | chitra - is a name for films, literally moving pictures. Shiksha means education. So 'MoveEducation' or ChalShiksha, under Education Film Festival India (EFFI), aims to create an event around films on all pedagogies but especially focused on new and innovative education practices.
In 2024, we are organising the 5th InDEC and the 2nd ChalShiksha together for the first time.
In line with democratic practices, the conference is inclusive and safe for children. We welcome anyone with an interest in education and films on education to be a part of the conference. The aim of the conference is not to promote any specific pedagogy but to explore practices that are humane, to enrich the democratic culture of both the worlds of education and films.
The conference will host film screenings, talks, workshops, open discussion forums, art, music, games and much more. A participant in the conference can choose to attend formal sessions, interact with other participants over a cup of tea or learn a skill through workshops.
A unique conference & festival where Presenters are participants; Participants are presenters.

The conference will be informal, so please dress accordingly.
Panchgani may be sunny during the day and chilly at night in the month of February. We suggest you carry both cotton clothing for the day; and warm clothes for evenings/early mornings. An umbrella or a wind cheater may be handy, in case it rains.
Comfortable walking shoes or other such footwear.
Clothing to cover the legs and arms may help to ward off mosquitoes when outdoors during dusk and dawn besides mosquito repellents.
A torch.
Reusable water bottle (single use bottles will not be available on campus but there will be water stations to refill)
Personal toiletries and medicines along with a prescription (in case medicines need to be bought locally).
Though the weather is pleasant, light warm clothes are recommended.
The entire campus is strictly a no-smoking and no-alcohol zone. Violation of this guideline is taken very seriously.
You could bring along your musical instruments or games that can be shared with other participants in the evenings, post screening. You are also welcome to showcase any other talents or skills at such times.
